How the first lessons go

How Year 7 is assessed
There is no national exam in Year 7. Schools set their own tests each term and use them to place students in sets. A strong first year usually means a higher set for Year 8, and sets are hard to move up from later.

Is Year 7 too early for a maths tutor?
No. Year 7 is the cheapest year to fix a gap, because the gap is still small. A term of weekly lessons at this stage often saves a year of catch-up at GCSE.
How many lessons a week does a Year 7 need?
One 60-minute lesson a week suits nearly every Year 7. You choose the day and time when you book and can add a second lesson later from your profile.
Do you follow the school’s scheme of work?
