Lesson terms

The weekly slot

• A booking is one 60-minute one-to-one online maths lesson at the same day and time every week, taught by a qualified teacher.
• Lessons run over video with a shared whiteboard. Your child needs a laptop or tablet with a camera and microphone, a stable connection and a quiet space. The video link is emailed before each lesson.
• You will receive a short note after each lesson: what was covered, what went well and what to practise.

Paying

• The price per week is shown at booking (currently £30 for KS3, £40 for GCSE, £50 for A-Level). The first lesson is charged when you book; after that the same amount is charged each week on the day of the lesson, to the card you gave Stripe.
• There is no sign-up fee, no minimum term and no lesson packs. If a price ever changes, we tell parents before it does, and you can cancel before it takes effect.
• If a weekly payment fails we will email you. The slot is held for seven days while you update the card; after that it may be offered to another family.

Cancelling

• Cancel at any time from your dashboard or by emailing info@thetutorsroom.com. The current week is the last one charged and no further payments are taken.
• Because you are charged one week at a time, there is nothing to refund on cancellation except a lesson we failed to deliver (see below).

Pausing for holidays

• You can pause the slot for up to four weeks in a term, for example over half term or a holiday. Nothing is charged for paused weeks and the slot stays yours.
• Tell us before the lesson day, from your dashboard or by email, so the week is not charged.

Missed lessons and rescheduling

• Need to move a lesson? Tell us at least 24 hours ahead and we will find another time that week where we can.
• With less than 24 hours’ notice the lesson is still charged, but you can use one make-up lesson each month for exactly this.
• If your child does not join within 15 minutes and we have not heard from you, the lesson counts as missed.
• If we have to cancel a lesson, we will offer another time that week or not charge that week. A lesson you paid for that we did not deliver is refunded.

Single lessons

Families with a weekly slot can add one-off lessons before mocks or exams at the single-lesson price shown on the prices page. These are paid for individually and the 24-hour notice rule applies.

Your side

• A parent or guardian makes the booking, is responsible for payment, and may sit in on any lesson.
• Please tell us anything that helps the tutor teach well, such as exam board, tier, target grade or additional needs.
• Lessons are recorded so your child can watch them back. Recordings are shared only with your family, are not used for anything else, and are deleted when the booking ends. Please do not share them publicly.

Our side

• Lessons are taught by a qualified teacher with PGCE and QTS and an enhanced DBS check.
• We plan each lesson around your child’s exam board and current level, and we tell you honestly where they stand.
• We cannot guarantee a particular grade. We can guarantee a qualified teacher, a plan, and a note after every lesson.
