OCR GCSE Maths tutoring, Papers 1 to 3, taught to the OCR mark scheme.
OCR papers mix calculator and non-calculator differently from AQA and Edexcel, and the problem-solving questions are worded in OCR’s own way. We teach from OCR’s past papers so nothing in the exam is a surprise.

What we cover
- Number: bounds, surds, standard form, indices
- Algebra: quadratics, simultaneous equations, functions, iteration
- Ratio, proportion and rates of change, including growth and decay
- Geometry and measures: trigonometry, circle theorems, vectors, transformations
- Probability: tree diagrams, Venn diagrams, conditional probability
- Statistics: sampling, cumulative frequency, histograms, box plots
What we do first
- 1A real OCR paper marked properly in the first lesson, so the plan starts from evidence.
- 2OCR’s command words and “show that” questions, where students lose marks without knowing why.
- 3Calculator routines for Papers 2 and 3 that avoid rounding and units traps.
How it is examined
Three 90-minute papers of 100 marks: Paper 1 (calculator), Paper 2 (non-calculator) and Paper 3 (calculator) for Foundation; the same pattern for Higher (J560/04 to 06). Foundation covers grades 1 to 5, Higher grades 4 to 9. Exams in May and June of Year 11.

Questions parents ask
Do you teach to OCR specifically?
Yes. Content is common across boards, but OCR’s paper order, wording and mark scheme differ. We use OCR past papers and mark schemes from the first month.
Foundation or Higher for OCR?
Foundation runs grades 1 to 5, Higher 4 to 9. We recommend after a marked diagnostic paper, and we tell you if the current tier is the wrong one.
How often are lessons?
One 60-minute lesson a week for most students; two a week in the final term or when moving a full grade. You choose the times when you book and can change them from your profile.
What does it cost?
